Pigeon shooting in England

In England the wood pigeon are non-migratory birds and are regarded as one of the countries finest sporting birds. The pigeon does not have a shooting season in the UK but we start our pigeon shooting season starts mid-January until end of September.

We shoot pigeon in two forms, pigeon flighting or roost shooting. Flighting involves decoying pigeons into a pattern on a field of crop, using fieldcraft or existing 'flight lines'. Roost shooting takes place in woods and is more common in winter months.

The shooting day usually starts around 08.30. We do not have any fix hides. All our hides are build the morning of the shooting day based on the previous day observation. The bag of the day depends on the shooting of each gun but on an average day you should be able to shoot over 50 cartridges and over 100 on a very good day.

If you stay with us for several day with offer a half board accommodation (breakfast and a field lunch) in one of the local pubs.
